Living Center Green
So I started a recycling program on 3rd floor to encourage residents to be nicer to the environment. I set a goal and waited to see if anyone would do it. Low and behold, they exceeded the goals!! Here are the final totals:
Paper - 9 feet
Cardboard - 498 boxes
Plastic - 1143 containers/bottles
Metal - 94 cans
Glass - 109 bottles/jars
Batteries - 41
The laundry room basically exploded with recylables.
Sweet.

So, someone Egged our door tonight while I was at rehearsal. Real sweet, guys. Good to know that we’re all adults around here. The investigation begins. I need a print kit. And a black light. And Marg Helgenberger.

I just read this article in the New Yorker that is all about Elevators. Sweet, right? Everything from history to disasters. I’d like to take a second and highlight one of the most disturbing and mindblowing facts in the entire article:
“In most elevators, at least in any built or installed since the early nineties, the door-close button doesn’t work. It is there mainly to make you think it works. (It does work if, say, a fireman needs to take control. But you need a key, and a fire, to do that.) Once you know this, it can be illuminating to watch people compulsively press the door-close button. That the door eventually closes reinforces their belief in the button’s power. It’s a little like prayer. Elevator design is rooted in deception—to disguise not only the bare fact of the box hanging by ropes but also the tethering of tenants to a system over which they have no command.”
I..uh…what? Me being the inquisitive toddler I am, tested this for myself in the LCN Elevator. 10 seconds for the door to close, whether or not the button was pushed. Shock and awe.

Tonight was LCNC’s 80’s Prom event. My dates (Katie and Alex) looked phenomenal in their dresses. Everyone had a lot of fun, and I was crowned Queen of the 80’s Prom! Such an honor. My other dream came true as I was finally able to complete the “splash and slap” technique on Dan. He pulled me, I splashed my water in his face and slapped him. We all had a good laugh, but he said I dislocated his jaw for a second. Oops. Anyway, here’s a photo!
